We’re very happy that we chose Buildoly for our ADU project. Back when we first met their CEO and architect, the company was still relatively new, but what stood out to us was how genuine and sincere the team was. We also really liked how practical and versatile their ADU designs were. Throughout the entire process, their team was always very responsive and communicative. The quality control was also excellent — honestly, we barely had to manage anything ourselves, and the house was smoothly built from start to finish. Now that the ADU has been completed and in use for over 4 months, every friend and family member who has stayed there has had a great experience and consistently commented on how comfortable and well-designed the space feels. Oh, and one more thing worth mentioning — the AC system they installed is so quiet that we genuinely thought it wasn’t even running at first. It honestly made us want to replace the AC in our main house too, haha.

This rating is based entirely on the initial consultation & design process to get a full proposal, I decided not to do an ADU at all so cannot comment in the permitting and building phases. I worked directly with Jeff, the Buildoly CEO who was friendly, direct, easy to work with, and very open to constructive feedback. I consulted about a free-standing ADU with about 6 full-service ADU builders (design, permitting, construction) and Buildoly was by far the easiest to work with. They are bespoke instead of custom designs so you have a limited number of options, think like customizing a car. I loved that limited choice as having to go choose evening from cabinets to tile to moulding from the millions of options possible on earth is just overwhelming and time consuming, as I leaned from a master bathroom expansion I did a couple years back. I wanted a beautiful design, but I didn't have to be as involved going from store to store to pick everything. For Buildoly, I visited a completed version of their very attractive 1 BR model which was great as you can see exactly what you are getting and you can easily design the between their customization options (e.g. tile backsplash or quartz) Then for only $100 Buildoly did a full site assessment of my property to determine what modifications or site work would be needed (e.g. I knew I'd have to take out several trees to open space for the ADU, and remove a chimney that partially blocked the ADU's direct access to the street, but they also check things like electrical panels, site gradients, etc) and check city permitting and regulations (e.g. make sure the proposed design meets setback rules). Their 1 BR design was close but not quite what I wanted as I needed some space to have a dining area, Jeff was open to this and quickly made modifications to their base model for their proposal. After just a couple of meetings I had a full, guaranteed cost proposal down to the penny and seen a finished product that would be very similar to what I world be getting, down to the appliances. No one else could do that. Everyone else could only semi-ballpark the cost, (or really not provide anything at all) and would have required at least multiple design consultations over the course of multiple weeks to get a sense of what design they proposed and get a firm(ish) cost quote. Often the design consulting needed to give me a cost estimate would have cost several thousands of dollars. If you are looking to rent your ADU, and thus want a very well thought out design that has broad appeal then Buildoly's bespoke process is ideal for you. If the ADU is for your personal use and you like some customization but don't want to be overwhelmed by design choices, then this may very well be for you. You'll get a beautiful ADU without spending your weekends at tile, appliance, hardware, cabinet, etc. stores. If this ADU is for personal use and you want to stamp your personal style and want to anguish over every little design decision, then go with someone else.

We were beyond impressed with Buildoly as a company, and with our sales rep Dennis in particular. Everything is so well thought out. From designs, the sales experience, transparent communication and everything else, Buildoly is doing it right. We appreciated their willingness to listen, and the no pressure sales approach. After interviewing multiple ADU companies and general contractors, I decided to go with Buildoly. They had the best aesthetic, pricing and the two bedroom one bath model fit my space perfect. They make it very easy for you. From project managing everything, the nice finish options & handling all the permitting process's. I’m thrilled with the final product. I was able to rent it out for more than expected with multiple applicants. The whole Buildoly team was so professional and courteous. I really enjoyed working with them!

I had the pleasure of working with Buildoly on the design of my ADU in Redlands, and I couldn’t be happier with the outcome. Jeff and Aziz took my initial idea and elevated it into a beautiful two-bedroom, two-bathroom space that perfectly matched my vision. I recently worked with Jeff and Buildoly on a garage-to-ADU conversion and was thoroughly impressed from start to finish. Jeff is incredibly responsive and proactive, even liaising with the local building department before we started. Their service was efficient, delivering our plans quickly and precisely as we wanted. We are really happy with our finished ADU! We picked Buildoly for the simplicity of just picking one of the available models with their minimalist design with high quality finishes. But, Jeff and his team were also really amenable to our request for a custom modification to Model 1 to add an additional 6 ft and an entryway closet (same closet unit as the bedroom). This added a lot to the functionality of the space. Our contractor, Kevin, was responsive and easy to work with.

I had a great experience working with Jeff and his team. The project stayed on track, and any issues that came up were handled quickly and efficiently. I really appreciate that they honor their word, which gave me a lot of confidence throughout the process. The workmanship and finishes are of high quality, with materials that feel a step above standard. Worth every dollar, and I would absolutely do business with them again.
